The Red Queen Slot Overview
I went in expecting a straight Alice spin-off, but The Red Queen leans into Through the Looking-Glass instead. It runs a 5x3 grid with a ways system, plus an extra reel that can be activated. You get a medium-high volatile setup, RTP up to 96.06%, stakes from 20p to £100, and a ceiling of 5,000x. The base game leans on Mystery symbols, wilds on reels 2–5, and splitting symbols that can turn one cell into multiple instances of the same icon.
Wins land for 3+ matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left. Regulars are 1x1, but splits can show 2 or 4 of the same symbol within a cell, which pushes the ways count far beyond 243. The presentation sticks to fluorescent mushrooms, flitting butterflies, and a slightly odd soundtrack, and it works fine as a fantasy backdrop. It's not all spectacle though; the mechanical core is about Mystery reveals, split value, and timing the sixth reel when it opens.
The Red Queen Slot Information
On paper it's 5 reels, 3 rows, 243 ways, expanding to a sixth reel in certain states. Lows are 10–A, highs are character symbols with the Queen on top. Five-of-a-kind pays range from 0.3x to 2.5x, rising to 0.5x–5x for six-of-a-kind when the extra reel is active. Scatters appear on reels 2–6, with 3 or 4 needed to trigger the bonus. The bonus frequency sits around 1 in 349 according to test data, which tracks with how it feels over sessions.
The Red Queen Slot Features
Two or three scatters in the base can open the sixth reel for the spin. That reel only shows scatters, Queen symbols, or blanks. If a scatter lands there, the free spins trigger; if a Queen hits, you get the Queen Respin. This extra reel doesn't stay open by default in the main game, so the cadence is: tease the reel, see what lands, then either move into the bonus or take a shot at a multiplier respin.
Queen Respin is straightforward and punchy. Any scatters that triggered it transform into wilds carrying a random multiplier of x2, x3, or x4. They stick for the single respin and apply to any wins they touch. If you connect with more than one of those multiplier wilds in the same win, the values multiply each other, which is where decent base game hits can materialise even without the full feature round.
Free spins come from 3 or 4 scatters on reels 2–6, with a clock deciding the number of spins. With 3 scatters, the green segments cover 12 to 4; with 4 scatters, they cover 12 to 6. Land on green and the spins stack with another clock roll. During the bonus, the sixth reel is always active and holds regular pays. A top reel with four soldiers can reveal modifiers: +Ways (guaranteed split), +Wild (multiplier wild x2/x3/x5), or +1 Spin, with no stated cap on total spins.
The Red Queen Symbols and Paytable
Lows are 10, J, Q, K, A. With the extra reel in play, they sit around 0.5x to 1.25x for six-of-a-kind. Highs are a rabbit with a cup, Kooky Hatter, a grinning cat, the White Rabbit, and the Queen, paying roughly 1.5x to 5x for six. With only five reels active, character symbols pay 1x to 2.5x for five-of-a-kind, and the Queen leads the pack. Six-of-a-kind only comes into play when the extra reel is open.
Wilds land on reels 2–5 to substitute, and during Queen Respin they can carry x2, x3, or x4 multipliers. Mystery symbols appear often and transform into the same random pay symbol, with 1, 2, or 4 instances per cell. Splitting is the engine that makes the ways jump, pairing neatly with Mystery reveals and the soldiers' +Ways modifier in free spins. When those line up with a multiplier wild, the paytable scales better than the raw numbers suggest.
