Pirate Queen at a glance
Pirate Queen is a 2023 pirate slot from TaDa Gaming, played on a 6x5 grid with Scatter Pays. Wins need at least eight matching symbols anywhere on the reels. Its defining feature is Cascading Reels, with the captain firing her cannon after a payout so winning symbols disappear and fresh ones occupy the cleared positions.
Presentation is bright and direct. Turquoise water surrounds the ship, the captain stands beside the reels, and the cannon animation gives every cascade a clear visual response. The spins feel slick with no obvious stutter, while pleasant effects make each successful cluster easy to recognise. It is familiar pirate material, yet the responsive win sequence put a proper smile on my face.

Returns, stakes and payout behaviour
Returns are led by a notably strong 97% RTP, accompanied by high volatility and maximum potential of 10,000x the stake. Bets run from 0.20 to 200 per spin. That broad range accommodates cautious sessions and far larger wagers, although the volatility means bankroll control matters. Smaller hits can arrive through cascades, but the biggest potential sits firmly with feature combinations.
Regular play stays enjoyably active because every completed win can clear space for another result. The small wins land often enough to keep things ticking along nicely during productive sequences, and chained drops feel more rewarding than isolated line payouts. A quiet run is still possible. In particular, failed clusters containing six or seven matching symbols can become frustrating because eight are required before any prize is formed.
Reading the pirate paytable
Anchors, maps and treasure chests provide the main thematic symbols, while A, K and Q fill the lower end of the paytable. Exact individual values are not displayed here, but all regular symbols follow the same Scatter Pays rule. Position does not matter. Eight or more matching icons must appear on the 6x5 board to create a paying combination.
Winning icons are removed after the payout, then replacements fall into their positions. The cascades chain together smoothly spin after spin whenever the new arrangement connects. Scatter symbols control access to the Free Game, while Cannon Ball symbols become the real attraction inside that round. Their multiplier values are clearly shown, so the effect on the final feature payout remains easy to follow.
Artwork is colourful and readable on smaller screens. Good. The queen and cannon receive more visual attention than the card ranks, which keeps the important action obvious. My only design complaint is the conventional selection of anchors, maps and treasure chests. They look tidy, but none gives the paytable a distinctive symbol identity beyond the named captain.

How the bonus engine builds wins
Landing the required Scatters starts the Free Game, where 10 free spins introduce Cannon Ball multipliers from x2 to x100. Each Cannon Ball remains fixed on the grid for the rest of the feature. Winning combinations receive the relevant accumulated multiplier when the spin is settled, so later rounds can become considerably stronger as more marked positions remain available.
Random Symbol Conversion and Board Reset events can occur at the end of a spin. Symbol Conversion changes selected icons to improve the board, while Board Reset refreshes the arrangement and creates another chance to connect enough matches. These interruptions are genuinely satisfying because they can rescue an unproductive result without forcing a separate pick screen or lengthy transition.
Choosing Extra Bet, also presented as an ante option, adds 50% to the stake and doubles the chance of reaching the Free Game. It is useful rather than essential. Standard spins already include cascades, conversions and resets, so the base game stays good fun even without a big hit. The bonus round drops in with a proper sense of occasion once the multiplier symbols begin sticking.
