The look stays dark, but the characters pop on the 5x4 grid, which helps when you track potential lines across the 40 paylines. Animations stand out, selling the story without getting in the way of the spin speed.
The soundtrack builds suspense with background creaks, distant moans and sharp stingers when features hit. The best touch is the zombie hands that can claw up through the reels at random, scratching a whole reel and turning it Wild in one sweep. It feels like an attack every time it happens, and when several reels scratch together the screen lights up in a way that fits the apocalyptic setup, especially when wins snake across multiple lines.
