Nitropolis: what to take away
Released in November 2020, Nitropolis is a 6-reel, 4,096 ways slot from ELK Studios, set in a dystopian city fought over by Dirty Dawgs, Gritty Kitties, Pug Thugs and Rogue Rats. Its central device is Nitro Reels, a mechanic that can expand the ways count sharply and gives the game its main identity.
Artistically, the launch arrived amid a crowded release schedule for character-led video slots, yet this entry still sits firmly within the publisher's more experimental catalogue. The studio pursues a familiar design brief here, high-volatility maths, mobile-first play and busy feature layering, but the animal-clan setting gives the first Nitropolis a more defined position than many routine 2020 releases.

By the numbers: Nitropolis
Numbers require a little care. RTP sits at 96.1%, volatility is high, hit frequency is listed at 19.8%, and the maximum win is 10,000x the stake. Plainly, the release is notable for its volatility profile, while readers should weigh the stated hit rate against the stake because a win roughly every five spins still includes many modest returns.
Reading the paytable
Symbols are numerous rather than generous. Twelve regular icons are split into low, mid and high-paying groups, with wins forming from the first reel across any row. Six mid-tier combinations pay from 0.24x to 0.36x for a 6-symbol hit, while higher symbols pay between 0.6x and 1x. The mushroom-cloud Wild substitutes for most symbols, but not the bonus symbol.

The bonus engine
Features carry most of the weight. Winning Respins fire after a winning result, re-spinning the symbols that formed the paying combination until no fresh win appears. Nitro Reels can land on any reel, cover two positions and contain 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 symbols, which is how the game can climb from 4,096 ways to 85,155,840.
Before the Bonus Game starts, one regular symbol is selected as the scatter-paying symbol. Sticky Nitro Reels then remain locked for the whole round. On closer inspection, several points emerge: the feature can grow substantial reel coverage, but the lack of a persistent multiplier leaves some bonus rounds feeling less forceful than the setup suggests.
