Introduction to Cave of Gold
Cave of Gold is a follow-up to Cave of Fortune from BF Games, played on a 5x3 reel set with 30 fixed bet ways paying left to right. The default RTP sits at 96.07%, but ranges come into play, and the variance is high. The gameplay turns on nitro symbols feeding counters above each reel, which can trigger a persistent wild for three games. Free games arrive via treasure chest scatters, and there are multipliers, bomb wilds, and collection features layered across both phases.
Theme, Graphics and Soundtrack in Cave of Gold
We head deep underground with the goblin from the earlier outing, now fronting an explosive new cavern. Symbols spin on a transparent reel set with nitro counters perched above, giving the screen a tidy, functional look. The underground mine vibe is clear and consistent, with the UI kept uncluttered so the counters and wild reels take centre stage when things heat up.
The symbols feel well crafted: trucks, lanterns, tools and card ranks line up cleanly, while the goblin wilds flood a reel when the feature hits. The soundtrack fits the mining theme without getting in the way. It sets a steady pace in the base game and adds a bit of punch when the nitro counters tick up or a persistent wild lands for its three-game run.
Cave of Gold RTP and Variance
The default RTP is 96.07%, which is about industry average, though players should note that ranges come into play in this game. That means the active RTP can vary by setting. High variance drives the maths profile, so the pace can feel measured at times before the features land. When the nitro counters align or scatters roll in, the game shows its teeth.
Max win is stated at 500x, which ties neatly to the Grand Nitro Meter reward in free games. With 30 fixed bet ways and a stack of low-to-mid symbol pays, much of the value leans on persistent wild reels, multipliers and the grand payout triggers. This structure explains the spiky hit pattern, especially when the counters sit just shy of firing.
How to Play Cave of Gold
Open the rules via the question mark to see the 5x3 setup, RTP details, and how single, double and triple nitro symbols feed the nitro counters. Three collected on a reel trigger a persistent wild reel for the next three games. The rules then outline multipliers when 2, 3 or 4 wild reels are active, the x200 payout for all five, scatter-triggered free games, the Grand Nitro Meter to 15 for x500, the Explode feature with bomb wilds, and a full pay table. Set stakes via the $ icon.
Bet Sizes and Pay Table Wins in Cave of Gold
Bets range from 0.30 to 60. Five-of-a-kind pays list as follows: scatter pays x150, the wild/gold truck pays x50, horn of gold and lantern pay x25, pick axe and spade pay x20, and A, K, Q, J, 10, 9 pay x15. The scatter is also the trigger for free games, so it carries both a payout and feature role, while wilds substitute and can form their own top-line win.
There are 30 fixed bet ways paying left to right. When persistent wild reels land, all positions on that reel become goblin wild symbols, which can complete lines across multiple ways. The pay table complements the feature-led design: base symbol pays are modest, while the heavy lifting comes from stacked wild coverage, multipliers when 2–4 wild reels are active, and the scatter-triggered round.

Cave of Gold Review Bonus Features and Free Spins
Single, double and triple nitro symbols add to the reel-specific nitro counters. On reaching three, that reel turns into a persistent wild for the next three games. Each time another reels in, the three-game counter resets. With 2, 3 or 4 persistent wild reels active, wins get x2, x3 or x4 multipliers applied. If all five reels turn wild at once, an x200 payout lands and the wild reels clear.
The treasure chest scatter triggers free games: three, four or five chests award 15, 20 or 25 spins. During free games, the Grand Nitro Meter appears and starts at zero. Each single, double or triple nitro adds 1, 2 or 3 to the meter. On reaching 15, the game pays a x500 grand reward and the meter resets. Extra scatters during the round can retrigger more free spins.
The Explode feature can trigger in free games when the Grand Nitro Meter reaches at least three. When it fires, bomb wild symbols are added to the reels in a number equal to the meter value. They land first, then wins are evaluated, giving the round a punchy, event-driven feel that complements the persistent wild reels from the base game.
Cave of Gold Review
I like the persistent wild concept here, as it builds steady anticipation through the nitro counters and then kicks hard for a few games. My gripe is the RTP ranges, though the default looks fair enough. Base game pays are on the low side, so most value sits in wild coverage, multipliers and the grand payouts. Free games have real potential thanks to the Grand Nitro Meter and Explode feature. No gamble option, but the wild action carries the load.
